DESCRIPTION:Please join us for our Community Development Meeting. \n\n\n\nOur speaker this month is: Nick Bishop\, who serves as Vice President for Economic Development and Regional Centers at Volunteer State Community College.  (Vol State)  \n\n \n\n\n\nNicholas (Nick) Bishop serves as Vice President for Economic Development and Regional Centers at Volunteer State Community College (Vol State). Vol State is a two-year community college with four campuses across Middle Tennessee and the Upper Cumberland Region\, and regional centers in Springfield\, Cookeville\, and Livingston\, TN. Vol State's service area spans from suburban areas north of Nashville to rural areas into the Upper Cumberland Plateau area of TN. Vol State has over 100 programs of study as well an extensive workforce development division that includes one of only 26 OSHA Training Institute Education Centers (OTIEC) in the nation. Vol State's OTIEC serves OSHA Region 4\, which covers the southeastern United States. Bishop serves in the President's Cabinet and assists with overall governance of the college. His office has direct oversight of Vol State's workforce development programs\, regional centers\, economic development activities\, and government and community relations. Bishop received a bachelor's degree from University of Tennessee (Go Vols!) and Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nashville School of Law. He is a licensed attorney in the state of Tennessee. Bishop has been with Vol State for six years. He previously served in management roles with the Tennessee Department of Labor and as a county commissioner\, and currently serves on the Town of Pleasant View Planning Commission.
