A beginning to the 250th Celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence
On April 18,1775, Paul Revere rode his famous ride to warn the colonists that the British were coming. The light was to hang in the tower of the old North Church-one if by land and two if by sea. The American Legion Auxiliary and the American Legion Unit 281 are asking the government offices, places of business, homes of our residents, our schools and our churches to participate in this pre-celebration. The first of many to come this year. We would like you to place 2 white lights in your window. Battery powered candles would be perfect. This is to tell everyone that you are celebrating this historic event. Place the lights in your windows on April 18,2025. That happens to be Good Friday. So, if you’re closed for the Easter weekend , then put them in the window and they can burn all week end. That is why we suggest electric.(battery powered) The schools have been asked to participate even further by having their students draw pictures of this event and we will hang them in various locations around Mt. Juliet, The Courthouse, Chamber of Commerce, the libraries, and the Commission meeting rooms. Thank you and have fun with this and let’s show our community pride.
